I’m still not over Riad Abaka by Ghali Annexe, honestly. I found it totally by accident last spring when I was wandering around the medina completely lost (classic Marrakech moment). The street looks like nothing, just a normal little derb, and then you knock on this random wooden door and… boom. Total calm. The courtyard is small but so pretty, with that little fountain going ploc-ploc and a pool that’s honestly just big enough to cool off your feet after walking all day. There are only like 9 or 10 rooms, so it never feels crowded. Mine had the comfiest bed ever (memory foam, yes please) and the shower was one of those big rain ones that actually stays hot. AC worked like a dream too – I basically lived on max cold the whole time because outside was 42 °C. Breakfast is included and it’s legit one of the best parts of the day: they bring out fresh orange juice, warm msemen, little pancakes, fruit, yogurt, and coffee that doesn’t taste like dirt. You eat on the rooftop if you want, and the view over the medina rooftops while the city wakes up is just… chef’s kiss. The people who run it are the sweetest. Hajar pretty much adopted me – she walked me to the main square the first night so I wouldn’t get eaten by the souks, gave me her personal list of non-touristy places to eat, and even found me a SIM card when mine decided to die. Everyone says hi, asks how your day was, brings you mint tea without you asking… it actually feels like staying at a friend’s house who happens to have a pool. Price-wise, I paid around 85 € a night with breakfast and I still think it was a steal. It’s not the fanciest riad you’ll see on Insta, but it’s real, it’s clean, it’s quiet, and the vibes are 100 % good energy. If you’re going to Marrakech and want a place that feels like a hug after the medina chaos, just book this one.
